Welcome to May's Hockey Happenings!

It has been an incredibly busy last month or two as the domestic club season drew to a close. In a beautiful weekend of sunshine and camaraderie in Three Rock Rovers Hockey Club, six scintillating games of hockey were played out, and in the end Monkstown men and Railway Union ladies were crowned Irish Hockey League Champions

There was more success at Club level in Europe, where UCD were crowned Eurohockey Women's Club Champions Challenge I Champions after four wins from four in Sicily. Railway Union claimed bronze in the Eurohockey Women's Club Champions Trophy in Antwerp, whilst in the respective men’s tournament in Vienna Cork Harlequins finished in 7th position.

On the International scene, there were appointments for Johnny Caren (u21) and Mick McKinnon (senior) on the men’s side, with Graham Shaw (u21) and Mary Logue (senior) on the women’s. Ricky Lee announced his u16 boy’s squad, as did Graham Shaw for the u18 boys, with both teams competing in tournaments over the summer.

Andrew Meredith's side had a prolific 3-2 victory over Olympic Champions Germany in Mannheim, as they prepare to head to Rotterdam for World League 3 next month.

Finally we also look forward to an exciting Summer of Hockey 2013!
