Symmons earns 200th cap as Canada beat Ireland

The Electric Ireland Irish Women's team were beaten 3-2 by Canada at a wet & windy UCD today as Irish International Nikki Symmons earned her 200th cap for the Green Army. It is a phenomenal achievement for the Loreto Hockey Club player who was presented to the crowd at the National Hockey Stadium before taking the field to become the first Irish Hockey International to reach 200 caps for their country. Today also saw a 1st cap for Ireland's Emily Beatty and a 50th Cap for Nicci Daly.

Ireland will rue a number of missed opportunities after they fell to Spain 1-0 in today's World League 3 Game in Rotterdam.

Andrew Meredith's men in green created enough to deserve something from the game but Spain edged proceedings to make their way into a play-off for 5th/6th place, whilst Ireland had to regroup to play for 7th or 8th the following evening

Andrew Meredith's Ireland were beaten 4-2 today against New Zealand on a cold & wet June morning in Rotterdam. It's a game Ireland may yet look back on as a missed opportunity having been well in the game for long periods against a side ranked 6th in World Hockey.

India 4 (Rupinderpal x2, Akashdeep, Shivendra)

A pulsating 70 minutes of hockey in a breezy Rotterdam today saw Ireland Senior men come within minutes of a famous victory over World number eleven side India. Both sides played free-flowing attacking hockey but it will be the men in green who will come away from the game feeling aggrieved after conceding so late in the game.

The Electric Ireland Irish Senior Women squad were beaten 4-3 by Scotland today in the 2nd and final game of a two test series in Edinburgh. The sides played out a 2-2 draw yesterday and today's encounter was a similarly close fought affair with a better overall quality of play.
